The team provides advice, information and enforces relevant legislation on many aspects of private sector housing including:
- Private sector disrepair – rented properties
- Houses in Multiple Occupation – flats, bedsits, shared houses, hostels etc
- Landlord licensing
- Empty properties
- Accommodation certificates for immigration purposes
- Asylum seeker property inspections
The team also deals with a wide range of complaints and requests for assistance and advice in relation to:
- Accumulations of rubbish on private land
- Statutory Nuisances e.g. damp being caused by neighbouring property
- Drainage problems (excluding public sewers, which are the responsibility of United Utilities)
- Filthy and verminous properties
- Investigation of serious pest control problems
