Housing Advice Service

Housing Advisers can offer advice and assistance on a variety of housing issues including:

  • Renting accommodation from Private Landlords, Lettings Agents, Housing Associations/ Residential Social Landlords (RSL); lodgings with resident landlords 
  • Housing benefits – advice on entitlements and assistance with queries  
  • Relationship breakdown – housing options  
  • Referrals for homeless singles into temporary accommodation  
  • We can provide advice to all tenants and private landlords in relation to:
      
  • Security of tenure  
  • Rights and obligations  
  • Rent  
  • Harassment  
  • Threat of eviction  
  • Repairs  
  • Legal procedure for seeking possession  
  • Homelessness – advice on your rights and different housing options  
  • Preventing homelessness – advice on your options to help you stay in your home  
  • Bolton Bond Board Scheme – a non-cash deposit guarantee scheme to help people who are homeless and on a low income or benefits, to secure private rented accommodation  


The Housing Advice Service also stocks a range of free booklets for landlords and tenants
