Housing Advisers can offer advice and assistance on a variety of housing issues including:
- Renting accommodation from Private Landlords, Lettings Agents, Housing Associations/ Residential Social Landlords (RSL); lodgings with resident landlords (Housing Options)
- Housing benefits – advice on entitlements and assistance with queries
- Relationship breakdown – housing options
- Referrals for homeless singles into temporary accommodation
We can provide advice to all tenants and private landlords in relation to:
- Security of tenure
- Rights and obligations
- Rent issues / dealing with rent arrears
- Harassment
- Threat of eviction
- Repairs
- Legal procedure for seeking possession and ending a tenancy
- Homelessness – advice on your rights and different housing options
- Preventing homelessness – advice on your options to help you stay in your home
- Bolton Bond Board Scheme – a non-cash deposit guarantee scheme to help people who are homeless and on a low income or benefits, to secure private rented accommodation
The Housing Advice Service also stocks a range of free booklets for landlords and tenants
