Bolton Accredited & Residential Landlords Organisation

BARLO operates a Landlord Accreditation Scheme which registers and accredits Landlords as well as their properties individually.
 
Members are asked to provide details of all the properties they own and or manage within Bolton. This makes it quicker and easier for the Landlord Accreditation Scheme to contact landlords with information relating to the tenant, property and local area. Accreditation Schemes are voluntary and rely on the honesty and goodwill of its landlord members.

Accredited Landlord
 
A Landlord is given ‘Accredited' status when all relevant required documentation for each property has been submitted with the Membership Application Form and:
 
A further verification process has been completed which entails a minimum of 10% of all properties registered with the accreditation scheme has been inspected and confirmed to meet requirements.
 
These checks enable BARLO to confirm any health or safety hazards that may be present (as assessed under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System), are sufficiently reduced or removed, for example damp & mould, excess cold, fire or electrical hazards. In cases where a hazard is present and the likelihood of harm is significant we will produce a Property Improvement Plan confirming work required and details of any grants if available.
 
Accredited Property
 
Properties within a landlord's portfolio will be individually given ‘Accredited' status on completion of compliance checks. Those properties that are not selected for an Accreditation Scheme inspection are effectively self-accredited.
 
Accredited Properties To Let via Find a Tenant Service
 
Compliance checks are usually carried out on properties to be advertised via Find A Tenant Service on the Homes for Bolton Choice Based Lettings System.
