The Accreditation Scheme Code of Standards [pdf] is a guide that enables landlords to self assess their property and tenancy management standards. Landlord members of BARLO are making a commitment to achieve and maintain these standards.

Checks are undertaken by the Accreditation Scheme on a minimum of 10% of all registered properties, Checks are usually carried out on properties located in current and former housing renewal areas, and properties to be advertised via Find A Tenant Service.

These checks enable BARLO to confirm risks associated with certain home hazards are sufficiently reduced or removed, eg damp, mould, and excess cold. In cases where a hazard is present and the likelihood of harm is significant we will produce a Property Improvement Plan confirming work required and details of any grants if available.
