The Bond Board is a charity that works with homeless single people, couples and families seeking accommodation who are unable to raise the cash deposit offering a bond instead.
A Bond is a written guarantee that takes the place of a cash deposit. It operates the same way as a cash deposit and is payable at the end of a tenancy if there are rent arrears, theft or damage. If you do need to make a claim, we aim to keep the process as simple as possible.
This is a cash free alternative to the Tenancy Deposit Protection Schemes introduced in April 2007, which ask landlords to lodge cash deposits into a custodial scheme, or pay an insurance premium, if they wish to hold the deposits themselves.
How does it help landlords? We can: - Help you find tenants
- Assist clients to make an accurate Housing Benefit claim
- We can currently offer direct Housing Benefit payments to landlords for the first six months of a tenancy
- Work with Housing Benefit to reduce delays and investigate problems that arise and explain Local Housing Allowance
- Offer the tenant crisis intervention or make a referral to a relevant support agency
- Offer advice if you are having any problems with your tenant
- Keep you informed of the latest changes in law and benefits which affect you
- Keep you updated on Accreditation and Regeneration initiatives
